iGEMS is a structured ‘education-to-employment’ initiative, which speaks directly to the needs of industry. The programme was created to better equip our eligible scholars to study towards a technical profession and assist them to secure employment within the Engineering Sector. The key objective of the programme is to increase the number of technical and engineering graduates from disadvantaged communities in Nelson Mandela Bay and assist them in securing permanent employment. Practical skills are gained through a structured learnership year at member companies thereby enhancing an interest in engineering. This is critical to both this region’s and South Africa’s economic development.
