UNITY IN AFRICA WELCOMES ULRICH SCHWABE AS A TRUSTEE

The Unity Africa Trust, which runs the iGEMS (incubating Great Engineering MindS) programme is delighted to announce that Ulrich Schwabe will be joining our Board as a Trustee, bringing with him three decades plus of international leadership and manufacturing experience in the automotive industry.

Ulrich’s career spans 31 years and three continents, having joined Volkswagen in 1995 as a Maintenance Engineer at the Wolfsburg Plant in Germany. Over the years, he has held senior roles across Manufacturing Operations, Product Management and Production Strategy, including serving as Production Director at Bentley Motors in the United Kingdom.

Most recently, Ulrich served for more than five years as Director of Production and Logistics at Volkswagen Group Africa, where he played an important role in strengthening Volkswagen’s manufacturing footprint on the African continent.

Ulrich’s extensive experience in engineering, manufacturing, leadership and sustainability will bring valuable insight to the Unity in Africa Board of Trustees.

His appointment strongly aligns with the vision of iGEMS, which seeks to develop South Africa’s future engineering and technical talent by supporting young people on their journey from education to meaningful employment.
